I’ve read a couple of Lisa’s books before and when I saw this on the bookshelf I knew I had to have it as I loved her previous work. With me now commuting, I’ve managed to start and finish two books in 2 weeks – I’m doing well and if I carry on I’ll be well over my Goodreads target of 20 for the year.
OVERVIEW: Melville Heights is one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Bristol, England; home to doctors and lawyers and old-money academics. It’s not the sort of place where people are brutally murdered in their own kitchens. But it is the sort of place where everyone has a secret. And everyone is watching you. As the headmaster credited with turning around the local school, Tom Fitzwilliam is beloved by one and all—including Joey Mullen, his new neighbour, who quickly develops an intense infatuation with this thoroughly charming yet unavailable man. Joey thinks her crush is a secret, but Tom’s teenaged son Freddie—a prodigy with aspirations of becoming a spy for MI5—excels in observing people and has witnessed Joey behaving strangely around his father.
MY THOUGHTS: Well, this book kept me on my toes all the god damn time. The way in which Lisa wrote it is just amazing and I was so intrigued the whole time. At the start I was a tad confused as it does switch between characters and locations, but it was worth it in the end to get the whole feel for the book and the storyline. Without any spoilers, I had no idea that the book was going to end the way it was, and the ending was really good. If you like her other books and like to flick between characters, then I would 100% say you need to read this book. I’d also say that if you are looking to get into crime/mystery/thriller books then out of all that I’ve read, this has been one of the best and easiest to get stuck into – a right good book that leaves you wanting to turn the pages!
STARS: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
