What I’ve been reading

It’s the end of Feb and I’ve read 6 books… that’s such an achievement for me! I’ve set my Goodreads challenge to 20 and I think I will surpass that (well I hope!) and I am looking forward to seeing what I read this year. In the last two months, I’ve read a range of genres and I have thoroughly enjoyed it so here’s a little rundown of the books I’ve read.

FRIEND REQUEST – Laura Marshall

I started this book just before Christmas but with all the festivities, I never actually finished it until the start of the new year. I did enjoy this book; I feel that it took me a while to get into it but then I feel I started reading it at the wrong time! This thriller that swaps between present day and when the characters were at high school, follows the story of when a girl gets a friend request from her high school friend that is supposedly dead. The truths that get uncovered and the mystery that surround this book kept you on your toes and the ending was good and not what I expected – 4 STARS

BECOMING – Michelle Obama

I’ve done a whole review on this book as I loved it that much so head on over and read about my thoughts about this book here.

THE PERFECT GIRLFRIEND – Karen Hamilton

What an interesting read this was. A girl is stalking her ex as she is determined to get back together with him and the twists that this love story takes you through is one that will keep you on your toes and wanting more. I didn’t expect half of things to happen that did and wow, it was intriguing to see how far this girl went to become the perfect girlfriend –  4 STARS.

THE KEEPER OF LOST THINGS – Ruth Hogan

I had heard so many good things about this book I couldn’t wait to read it! Although it took me a while to get into it, I really enjoyed the story. This was such a lovely novel that just captures your heart through a range of emotions that keeps you entertained. I really enjoyed this book and I really want to read more Ruth Hogan books in the future – 4 STARS.

THE OTHER COUPLE – Sarah J Naughton

I read this book in two days, I was hooked. The storyline was so intense I could not put the book down and I had no idea how it was going to end. This psychological thriller is all about a honeymoon gone wrong and the wife is determined to find out what really happened on her honeymoon. As much as the story was gripping and intense the ending was AWFUL. So rushed, so not worth it and ruined the book for me. I would still recommend the book though, it’s a good read – 3 STARS.

AN ANONYMOUS GIRL – Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

The first book in Beth’s Book club (@bethsbookclub_ on insta) and boy it was a good choice. The story of a research study that entices a young woman to get involved turn deeper and darker than research. This book involved a range of characters that all helped (and didn’t) help the story. There is small, easy to read chapters which change character keeping the story alive and on its toes. All in all very good and I really enjoyed the book club questions at the end; where I got to voice my opinion and here others. The opinions also let me see the book in another light and I liked that aspect – I would really recommend joining!

I’m super jealous of your ability to commit to reading like this. I used to do that all the time when I was younger and loved the time I spent alone with my books. Sadly, I haven’t put aside any time for it lately. I think that needs to change 🙂
