Recently I’ve been under so much stress and pressure I haven’t taken a lot of time to myself as I’ve put everything and everyone else before me. I know how important self care and taking time out is and I’m trying to fit that into my schedule starting today. I’ve had a pretty tough start to the year and I definitely haven’t made things easer for myself by not putting me first!
If you’re like me and struggle to take care of yourself, why not try my 5 favourite things to do:
Read a book
Reading has really helped me escape recently.. I can get lost in a book and forget about what is happening in life. It also can help broaden your mind, even if you only read for 10 minutes before bed – it all helps! I’m currently doing the Goodreads challenge to keep me on track and its helping
Write a blog post
As you can probably tell, I haven’t blogged in over month because ‘I haven’t had time’ and that is just an excuse. I have had time, I just chose not too. It’s currently taken me 15 minutes to write this so I know I can do it. Like reading, writing is a good escape as you can spill all your thoughts out and clear your mind – a great way to destress and relax.
Have a bath
I’ve never been a big bath person – we only had a shower at home so I’d have the occasional bath at my Dad’s or my Nan’s but other than that, I would just shower. Since we’ve moved into our new flat and actually got hot water (funnily enough, we lived for 18 months in our old flat with next to no hot water), I’ve started having the occasional bath and I love them. I light some candles, put some bubble bath in and read my book (just like that, two self care tricks are ticked off!) and it so good. I think I may have been converted..
Snuggle up on the sofa with a new series
Whether you snuggle up with your partner, pet, siblings or just chill by yourself, there is nothing better than snacks, a blanket and a good TV series! Me and my partner try to spend one evening a week where we relax with our fave shows – no phones and we spend time together, it’s my favourite part of the week! If you need any new shoes to watch check out my top 5 Netflix shows here.
Get into a routine
I never thought much of this but since I started a new routine, I feel much more put together and ready. Little things like waking up at the same time every day, making time for breakfast and preparing tea before I head to uni just makes everything so much easier! My head is then clear and ready to go for the day as I’m not thinking about things I have to do when I get home and I can concentrate on studying.
How do you take care of yourself?
Sorry for the lack of posts, I’m trying my best guys but life is kinda hard!
Speak soon,
I love this post, I was the same forgetting to make some time for myself. Recently, I’ve made more of an effort to read a book before bed and I know I need to stop using the excuse I don’t have enough time too😂

This is such a good idea!! I always have issues with self care… I view my gym routine as a form of self care but when you are constantly on the go it’s always good to have self care routines that can let you rest!
Thank you so much for sharing these ideas. ☺️ Hope you feel better soon! X

I can so relate! Great ideas – bubble bath and a book sounds lovely! My favorite self care is creating “white space” for myself – a few hours alone in silence just to think.
